| Windows95 Dialup Instructions | |
|
The following instructions are for those who DO NOT have our software.
These pages will explain how to connect to ISOT using Dial-Up Networking
in Windows 95 if you wish to configure the connection manually.
Although not recommended, this method can also be used for windows 98.
The assumptions that we make are as follows:
|
|
|
Step1: Configuration of the Dialup Protocols |
First we need to make sure you have
the correct components installed to connect to ISOT.
Windows 95 should have returned you to the Network window, and you should now be able to see the dial-up adapter that you have just loaded; you will also notice that Windows 95 automatically loaded some network clients and protocols. This is just Windows 95 trying to be helpful, but the protocol that we need--called TCP/IP--isn't loaded, so we need to add another Network Component.
You should be back in the 'Network' window. Click OK and it will either ask you for your Windows95/98 CD and/or ask you to reboot the computer. Go ahead and reboot when asked. Once you are back in Windows, then proceed with Step #2. NOTE: Most will not need to do these next steps but if you find you cannot connect properly then we need to modify the TCP/IP settings to be used with ISOT.
Windows 95 will now need to copy over some drivers for the TCP/IP protocol that you added, which will probably require the distribution diskettes or the original CD-ROM. When Windows asks you if you'd like to restart your system, click "Yes" and wait for your computer to restart. When you're back to your desktop screen, continue to Step #2. |
Before we begin, we need to
double-check that Dial-Up Networking is installed on your computer.
Double-Click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop. Look for an icon
labeled 'Dial-Up Networking'. For most people, Dial-Up
Networking will already be installed. If you see the icon, move on to the
next step, Make New Connection. But if you did a
"minimal install" for space reasons, Dial Up Networking might not
be installed. If it isn't there, you'll need to install Dial Up Networking
from your installation disks/CD-ROM before going any farther. To do this,

|
Step3: Make New Connection |
You should see a new ISOT icon in the 'Dial-Up Networking' box. Now RIGHT-CLICK on the ISOT icon that you created, and LEFT-CLICK on 'Properties' from the menu that will pop up.
