There are no instructions for configuring Windows 3.x for dialing into the internet. The reason is that Windows 3.x did not come with any dialup software. Therefore you need either our software or a 3rd party software to be able to connect. These pages will explain how to connect to the Internet using our installation software.

The assumptions that we make are as follows:

  • You are working in Windows 3.1, or 3.11
  • You have a working modem installed on your computer
  • You have the installation diskettes handy
  • Installation of other windows TCP/IP socket was not previously attempted on the same system.  If this is untrue, it is possible that your old network socket might not work properly.  Although  our software will over write existing files, it may or may not correct problem or software conflicts resulted from a previous installation attempt with faulty 3rd party on-line software.
  • You have an active account with ISOT and know your login ID and password

 Step1: Installation Disks

You should have received a number of Installation Disks from our service department. These disks are fairly self-explanatory, but there are a couple of things you may need to change depending on your location.
  1. Insert Disk 1 into your floppy drive
  2. In windows Program Manager select File...Run and type:
    A:\setup
(or B:\setup, if your 3 1/2 inch drive is B and not A)
  3. After read the information / agreement screen, click "I Agree" to continue
  4. The installation program will now load some necessary files for Internet explorer setup, and start the process of getting you setup.
  5. A welcome screen will appear, click OK to continue copying.  Setup will now examine existing system settings.
  6. A Default directory confirmation page will appear.  Click OK to continue setup.
  7. A setup screen will appear.  Click Complete icon to continue setup
  8. A Choose Program Group window will appear.  Click Continue to continue setup.  Setup will now start copy files.

 Step2: Configuring / Installing Modem

  • If modem is internal, all necessary jumper is properly configured, and PNP mode is disabled
  • User have fundamental hardware knowledge to perform this operation
  • User have make and model of modem available handy
  • If a internal modem was used, it is properly configured (COM Port and IRQ are properly not in conflict with other devices and that it was correctly entered under Program Manager | Main | Control Panel | Ports).
